About
You Are Here. On a map, these three words locate us and help us plan our next steps. They are also a powerful intention to press pause, turn down the noise, and connect with our authentic selves.
You Are Here also grounds us in the power of our own stories. Being the main character in our own stories isn’t about stealing the spotlight of showing off, it’s about showing up authentically. In many ways, our stories are our mental health. During pivotal moments and times of transition—like returning to campus—we have the opportunity to experience a new chapter, one that feels exciting and good. It can be hard with so many other narratives swirling around us: conflict, current events, other people’s opinions, and the expectations we put on ourselves. But when we press pause, we discover that the only story we can tell is our own.
You Are Here is an experience from The Jed Foundation, supported by our partners at PINK. Here you’ll find tips, practices, and resources for pressing pause to lower the volume on those other narratives, connect with who you truly are, and find inspiration for your next chapter.
As you find the quiet to tune into yourself with these tips and tools, pay attention to any time you feel stuck. All main characters have good support by their side, and sometimes we need more help when things feel overwhelming or hopeless.
